Having a Soul-to-Soul Conversationby Stephanie Brail A healer told me about the following technique a while ago. I don't even remember her full name; all I have is a set of notes on a single sheet of paper. So, whoever you are, thanks for the information. A "soul-to-soul" conversation is a spiritual technique of forgiveness and letting go. The idea is that we are all somehow linked via spirit, that we can transmit our thoughts and feelings to others over distance. Even if you don't believe we are somehow spiritually linked, this exercise can still provide a sense of well-being and peace of mind. Let's say you are at wit's end about a situation with someone, perhaps a family member. Maybe you've tried talking to the person but nothing seems to help. You can use the soul-to-soul conversation to help heal the situation, without ever speaking to the other party. It is a very simple exercise and can be done anywhere at any time, as long as you have a moment to breathe deeply, close your eyes, and be quiet for a few moments. This technique often works best at night when you are about to fall asleep, because the other person will be more receptive if they are also near or in a sleep state. (Of course, this depends on time zone.) 1. To begin, pray or meditate so you are coming from a centered, calm space. 2. Visualize the other person in your mind's eye. Use a photograph if that helps to create the connection. Imagine that they are there with you and you are actually speaking to them. 3. Now express to this person (in your mind) how you are feeling. Tell them what is affecting you. Be honest, and let it all out. 4. When you are done, ask them where they are coming from. Ask what they want from you. Try to listen without judgment. What are you sensing? Don't discount the messages you hear. 5. Let it go and let God take care of it. You may be amazed at the results you get from this simple technique, but remember: Do not do this with an attachment to a particular outcome. Truly let go and be at peace. |
