"Change Your Story, Reveal Your Glory"While I am not a fan of The Secret, I am a fan of Rev. Michael Beckwith. He had a terrific sermon at the Agape International Spiritual Center today. The subject of his talk was "Change Your Story, Reveal Your Glory." He said that when we get caught up in the "story" that we are not good enough, we can get caught up in being a consumer, instead of a creator. (He certainly said this better than I am reporting it.) Then we feel we need to conquer, not create. The memes of "consume and conquer" are very much embedded in our Western culture. For example, he pointed out that the Western world reported Sir Edmund Hillary as "conquering" Everest, while the Eastern world said that he "befriended" the mountain. So we need to step back and be aware of the messages that we are drinking up on a daily basis. By changing our story, we can connect with our inner "glory," that well of spirit that makes us children of God. Good stuff to meditate on... |

The Work on The Secret
When I first heard of The Secret, I was very curious as to what it was. I watched the video, read sections of the book and yet something remained missing . . . it didn't strike truth with me. Later, I came across what I found to be an explanation for me as to what was "not present" from The Secret. (THE present).

. . . if you paste this into your browser, you'll find an article with a comparison of The Work and The Secret.
"I want reality to change? Hopeless. Let me change my thinking. Some of us mentally argue with 'what is.' Others of us attempt to control and change 'what is,' and then tell ourselves and others that we actually had something to do with any apparent change that took place. This leaves no connection or room for God in my life. In the peaceful experience of no opposition to God, I remain aware of my nature: clear, vibrant, a friend, a listener." ~Byron Katie
